What is the wereque?

The wereque or wereke , is a plant of Mexican origin, is a cucurbit of Sonoran origin. It grows as a vine with small yellow flowers and red fruit when ripe . This vine climbs around trees bequeathing to grow around three meters from this plant part used as medicine is the root or tuber which has the dimensions of a jicama and beets, and is characterized by its strong bitter taste your regular size big and gray.

Wereke belongs to the gourd or pumpkin family, which includes some plants that do in fact have biochemical compounds that may reduce the levels of sugar (glucose) in the blood.

How is wereque used?

The traditional way is to dry pulverizing root and then take either dissolved in water or alcohol. Few drops of this preparation which are diluted in water, as the taste of very bitter wereque taken . Another way is to eat the fresh root into pieces , but few people who tolerate this way by such a strong flavor.
