Product description

What makes our Hojicha different?

This product is loose leaf tea, not tea bags.

We offer a wide selection of Japanese products to all tea lovers!

Product Description

Storage

This hojicha is made from mainly first and second harvest sencha stems. This is superior to common Hojicha that is made from last harvest, or Hojicha made from becnha stems. This difference translates into an unmatched flavor and aroma!

The differences between loose leaf tea and traditional tea bags are numerous, extending far beyond the surface. The leaves used in most tea bags are typically the "dust and fannings" from broken tea leaves, which compromises the quality compared to full leaf tea. Tea bags release more tannins than whole leaf tea, resulting in bitter, astringent brews.

The shape and size of the bags themselves are also important factors, as most tea bags constrain the tea leaves, preventing them from expanding to their full flavor and aroma potential. Additionally, the bags might be made from materials that can influence the flavor or release compounds when exposed to hot water.

Brewing Tip:

There is a lot of debate and different schools on the best brewing method, however, there is no right or wrong as it’s all a matter of preference, and you could always adjust the water to tea ratio according to your taste. .

We commit to supply you with the finest and freshest teas from Kagoshima and Mei at fair prices. We ship all of our teas by express air freight to avoid the unpredictable environment associated with sea freight. Our teas are stored in temperature controlled units in our warehouses in the United States before they ship directly to you, they are never sitting on retail shelves.

Our variety of Japanese green tea products are carefully selected and unique.
