This Kuromamecha black soybean tea is made from iwaikuro, a variety of large black soybeans, that have a savory aroma and nutty sweet taste -- you can eat the beans after drinking! Enjoy this caffeine-free tea any time of day, or as a crunchy snack as is too.
Our Kuromamecha Black Soybean Tea is made with roasted black soybeans from Hokkaido. After brewing, enjoy the beans as a tasty, fiber-rich snack.

Japanese Kuromamecha has a savory aroma and nutty, sweet flavor that can be enjoyed hot or cold.
Soak the Kuromamecha beans in water overnight, and simmer with sugar and a pinch of salt for a couple of hours the next day. Add soy sauce to taste.

Step 1 Boil fresh water. Let cool very slightly ? water close to 203°F (95°C) is ideal for bringing out the fragrance and flavor in Kuromamecha.
Step 2 Pour hot water over the Kuromamecha in your teapot/kyusu or directly in your cup.
Step 3 Steep for 5 minutes. Kuromamecha can be steeped up to 2 times and you can eat the beans afterward for fiber and protein. Enjoy!
Kuromamecha can be enjoyed both hot or cold. For cold Kuromamecha, brew it hot and refrigerate for 2 hours before drinking.

You can re-steep it up to 2 times depending on your taste preference. Slightly increase the water temperature with each successive steeping for best results. Get about 30 cups from one tea tin, potentially more since it can be resteeped.
