Compare Japanese teas

How many teaspoon (tsp) is needed to brew a cup of tea and How much caffeine is there per cup of tea?

How many times can this tea be re-steeped and How many servings or cup of tea can this whole tea tin (100g) make?

Is there an expiration & manufacture or pick date on the product?

Is this tea tested for mycotoxins?

Why are the tea leaves crumbled?

This Sencha is savory and full-bodied with a natural sweetness. This Fukamushi Sencha uses fresh tea leaves at prime ripeness, the first pick of the season from Japan’s Yabukita cultivar. Fukamushi Sencha, or deep steamed green tea, is known as Shizuoka’s signature style of green tea.

Classic Green Tea, or Sencha, is Japan’s most popular tea with 40% of all green tea production coming from Shizuoka.

Sencha brews a rich, vibrant green hue. With medium caffeine, perfect for mornings.

Japanese Sencha green tea is savory and full-bodied with a natural sweetness that is truly exceptional.

Japanese Sencha can be enjoyed as a hot and cold brew. Both delicious and refreshing, cold-brew sencha is a perfect drink to cool down from the heat.

煎茶の淹れ方

Step 1 Pour boiling water into a cup or yuzamashi (water cooler) to adjust the water temperature. Recommended water temperature for Sencha is 176°F (80°C).

Tip: Pouring hot water into a separate cup will reduce the temperature by 10°C (20°F)

Step 2 Add one teaspoon of Sencha into your teapot to brew 8oz (1 cup) of tea. Add more for a bolder cup.

Step 3 Pour the water into the teapot and steep for 1-1.5 mins. Resteep 2-3 times and experiment with temperature + time to find your preference. Enjoy!

Our teas are carefully harvested and produced in small batches by our select farms, resulting in high-quality tea with robust flavors and aromas.

These airtight tins are made with sustainability in mind and are designed to lock in the aroma and flavor so your tea stays fresh for longer.

Reuse and recycle your refillable tea tins with our pouch refills made of kraft paper. Subscribe and save on your favorite Japanese teas.

Non-GMO with no sugar, no preservatives, no fillers added, and no chemicals or pesticides.

How many teaspoon (tsp) is needed to brew a cup of tea and How much caffeine is there per cup of tea?

Recommended is approximately 1 to 2 teaspoons for every 8 oz of water but we encourage to experiment with the tea-to-water ratio to match your preference. Sencha has approx 16 mg caffeine/g, more extracted with higher temp and longer steeping.

How many times can this tea be re-steeped and How many servings or cup of tea can this whole tea tin (100g) make?

You can re-steep it up to 3 times depending on your taste preference. Slightly increase the water temperature with each successive steeping for best results. Get about 50 cups from one tea tin, potentially more since it can be resteeped.

Is there an expiration & manufacture or pick date on the product?

You can find the best-before date on the kraft paper pouch located inside the airtight tea tin where the tea is packaged.

Is this tea tested for mycotoxins?

Yes, our teas are tested for mycotoxins, as well as heavy metals, pesticides, and radiation. We work with family farms in Japan that follow strict traditional farming practices and natural cultivation methods to ensure quality in every cup.

Why are the tea leaves crumbled?

Our green teas are deep-steamed (Fukamushi), a traditional Japanese method that makes the leaves more delicate but enhances flavor, aroma, and richness compared to regular green tea.
