OUR STORY
OUR PHILOSOPHY
OUR PROCESS
OUR TEAS
Debes Chandra Ghose’s grandfather Gopal Chandra Ghose, established India’s first native owned tea plantation in 1879, and thus began the family’s tea tradition.
With the involvement of each new generation, the family’s roots in the business grew deeper and stronger. The tea business is now guided by the sixth generation, and the Ghose family has emerged as a golden thread with the past that has remained unbroken, for more than a century.
As we look back on this remarkable history, we are humbled by the many sacrifices and unquestioning devotion to tea of the generations past.
Silverpot is produced and packed in India, and all earnings are retained at the country of origin.
Your patronage of Silverpot enables us to reward estates with better prices for their produce, which in turn enables them to work towards improving the quality of life of their estate population through medical and hygiene programs, availability of clean drinking water and supply of electricity.
Additionally, we work with our partners in securing the future of plantation communities by enhancing their life skills and educating their children.
Creating exceptional teas requires expertise, patience and a great deal of effort.
Tea leaves are harvested several times a year. The prevailing growing conditions influence the aroma, flavour and taste of teas produced during a flush, making every year’s crop different, and each flush unique.
We also make delicious, functional teas, to address specific wellness needs, inspired by the ancient knowledge of Ayurveda. We use only the finest spices and botanicals for their unique taste and natural goodness.
Silverpot is different. There is a strange mix of love for tea, family pride and cutting edge technology inside every pack.
We select the finest teas from the most famous tea growing regions, each with its own unique characteristics. The fertile plains of the Brahmaputra river nourishes the strong and full bodied Assam teas, while the Shivalik mountains gently caress the light and flavoury Darjeeling teas.
These regions have a long proud history rich with noble traditions. One of the greatest is producing the world’s finest teas.
